This week was all consuming with cutting scenes.
I spent all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday full immersed with my material. I only have two scenes left to cut and I still need to pull selects from all of my establishing, location and landscape shots. I am not starting to think about the big picture with the assembly and the rough cut and how all of this should fit together.
John gave me the idea of making a mind map of all of my ideas that I want to portray in the film. So that I can step back and remember what the main points that I am trying to get across are and I don’t end up cutting and cutting to much that all I have left is a piece about how chocolate is made.
Anyway, I am leaving my computer and editing work behind for the break. Instead I will work on reading my interview selects, and creating note cards to start thinking about how all of these scenes should play together and where I can place voice over from Samuel to add context.
