JC Dávila's BLOG post #6 - Slow, Firm Steps

My former boss would’ve told me “estámos atrás como los güevos del perro”, in English it translates to: we are behind like a dog’s genitals. The phrase describes how I feel regarding my actual stage of my post-production process. This week I should’ve ended making selects and putting together the scenes of my participant Jesús. Yet, I found myself behind because I just finished with cutting the scenes of Efraín who was due last week. After I finish posting this blog entry I am going back to editing and begin assembling the scenes of Jesús finally.

Still, even though I am walking slowly at this point, I am confident that I am giving firm steps. “Sin prisa, pero sin pausa” translates to: without hurry, but without pausing. Hopefully consistency will help me get back on track and get me at the point I need to be at the end of the quarter. Also thanksgiving break is a plus, time wise.

However, Efraín is the participant with the most scenes; he has six scenes in total without including interviews. One of the six scenes seems completely useless for me and there are two who have huge audio problems. One of him practicing lift weighting in a gym and the other is he spreading propaganda at the university. Both locations have too much noise, which gives me headache and sometimes force me take my off headphones as a response of desperation. At the moment these two would be the scenes I’d like to workshop the most.
