Week 6 Update - Rana

Last class helped me better understand what I need from a scene, as I had over-cut the scene I showed during class. I had a good session with Jennifer as well, recapping on scene building, tempo, and story. I spent the week considering Pascal as not being part of this film. There seems to be a consensus from the feedback I've been receiving that he (Pascal) does not help my film, and I'm not necessarily completely convinced, but I do agree that he does a lot more spoon-feeding than is needed. And it's probably stronger to have this visual account of joyriding and the city experienced rather than explained. As I think about this I plan on making 2 rough cuts by the end of the quarter, one that includes Pascal and one that doesn't, so that I can make a comparison and decision before the winter quarter.

One thing is for sure: I am not done making selects from all my shooting. I am still in that process, hoping that it can be complete by next week. I've been doing more writing the past week, and rather taking a step back and thinking about what footage I do/don't need, and strategizing the next Rakan shoot.

I'm starting to think of audio selects as well (like radio/music played in the background of my city-shoots), and I plan on completing that task by next week.
