Things are moving along.
This week I focused on organization so that I have a good base to work off of. I made sure to rename and restructure all of the clips on my hard drive while making sure they match the logs that I had already created. I transcoded the rest of the footage that from my Gopro and Sony handled recorder. I was grateful to find some footage from those cameras that I was able to capture just after the battery died on the FS100. However, I am going to need to figure out the best way to get the clips to match the quality of the FS100 so that I can edit them together without a noticeable change. I also went through all of my transcripts to add in the timecode, and I translated all of my Spanish scripts into english so that the are searchable and it will be easy for me to add in subtitles by simply copy and pasting.
I also created an organizational structure in FCP 7 that I feel confident with (Scene below). I also used the marker function in FCP 7 to mark topics in Samuel's main interview. Everything on my master hard drive is backed up to two different hard drives, and I have my original raw material on 2 hard drives as well ( one of which is in another town completely.)
Moving forward, I have decided to start pulling selects starting with my Panama material first. That is what I am most eager and excited about reviewing and where I feel my story will start. I also am still working on
transcribing a few english interviews and I only have 2 days worth of footage to log.
